As the Director, Digital Warfare Office (OPNAV N9DW), Ms. Hendrey acts as the Navy’s requirements integrator for the Naval Operational Architecture and Long Range Fires. She leads the Navy’s contribution to the Joint Long Range Kill Chains Organization (JLO) which focuses on joint capability gap closure plans for full kill chain execution at campaign scale. She is also the Resource and Requirements sponsor for Project Overmatch, which is accelerating the delivery of the Naval Operational Architecture to the warfighter. She is driving digital integration and transformation efforts that enhance the distributed force’s lethality and decision-making capabilities
Ms. Hendrey was appointed to the Senior Executive Service and served as the Executive Director, Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) from September 2023 to August 2025. In this role, Ms. Hendrey directed the acquisition and Fleet support of the Surface Navy’s over 170 combat systems, weapons, radars, and related international and foreign military sales programs. She was responsible for a workforce of over 400 civilians and military personnel and an annual acquisition budget of nearly $7 billion.
Ms. Hendrey was appointed to the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service in August 2020 and led the comprehensive digital modernization of the Machine-Assisted Analytic Rapid-Repository System (MARS) program, the Defense Intelligence Enterprise’s system for foundational military intelligence.
Prior to her selection to SES, Ms. Hendrey served in a number of senior acquisition leadership positions to include: Deputy Program Manager for Mine Warfare in PEO Unmanned and Small Combatants; Director of Undersea Warfare Systems and Littoral Combat Ship for the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Research, Development and Acquisition; and Advanced Radars program leadership in PEO IWS. She spent 11 years in industry working on PEO IWS, PEO C4I and Army programs, gaining invaluable insights into the perspectives of small and medium sized businesses. Ms. Hendrey’s Navy career began as a high school intern in the Magnetic Materials Group, Naval Surface Warfare Center White Oak.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Maryland, College Park. Ms. Hendrey is a member of the Acquisition Professional Community and has a Level III Certification in Program Management. She was the winner of the USD(AT&L) 2014 Workforce Achievement Award for Program Management.
Ms. Hendrey’s awards also include two Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Awards, a Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Office of the Director for National Intelligence Exceptional Service Award, the Defense Intelligence Agency Director’s Award, and the Under Secretary of Defense (Intelligence and Security) Visionary Award.
